The electricity sector consists of power generation and transmission and distribution. Transmission and distribution are represented by a service sector. Imperfect substitutability among power generation technologies is assumed to depict market inertias associated with switching from one technology to another. GRACE simulates six technologies of power generation from coal, oil, gas, nuclear, hydro, and other renewables.

Electricity is consumed by both industrial producers and households.
